In 2015, SA Construction Group Company started construction of the second electrified road Almaty 1 — Shu. On existing line, length of 306 kilometers train traffic is becoming more intense.
With the commissioning of the second way, it will become possible to increase the capacity of the section by more than three times — from 25 million tons to 80 million tons, and the time for the freight trains — to decrease twofold. In the course of the project, more than 110 kilometers of main roads will be built, 92 engineering units will be erected, including 22 railroad bridges and 2 overpasses.

Over the past years, a significant amount of work has been completed on the Astana-Almaty line to modernize the upper track structure. This allowed increasing the speed of passenger trains and reducing the travel time of the high-speed train «Tulpar».
The construction of the line will include more than 1,500 jobs created. The implementation of this project will significantly increase the transit potential of the economy.
