First start complex of second railway at Almaty-1 – Shu site will be launched in November.
On June 24 this year, the head of the company “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” Askar Mamin during his working trip to the Almaty region was acquainted with the progress of the construction of the second railway on the Almaty-1 Shu section.
The project is implemented by the Company under the program “Nurly Zhol”. The launch of the second railway on the Almaty-1-Shu section is of great importance for the expansion of the transit car traffic volume to the countries of the Persian Gulf, Europe and Turkey.
Construction of the second railway on the section Almaty-1-Shu is carried out to eliminate the “narrow” places in the organization of train traffic, increase the efficiency of the transportation process on one of the busiest highways of the country. The facility is of great importance for increasing the capacity of the most important highway in the republic.
At the meeting with the participants of the construction, the head of the Company noted the strategic importance of the facility, the construction of which is entering a crucial phase.
“The load on the line will increase significantly, new routes will be added, and the frequency of passenger trains, especially high-speed Tulpar-Talgo will increase,” the head of the Company noted.
He also noted: “6-7 container trains will follow this line on a daily basis.”
Currently, work is under way on the construction of the roadbed, artificial structures – bridges, culverts, installation of rail grilles, as well as installation of equipment for signaling and communications, energy facilities. There is a shipment of rails of domestic production of Aktyubinsk rail-track plant to the production bases of ICP “Birlik”.
In accordance with the project, the main second railway of 110 km in length will include the top railway. 90 artificial structures will be built on the line including 10 bridges, 12 bridges will be lengthened, 63 culverts. 35 turnouts will be laid.
The first launch complex at 58.2 kilometers is planned to open traffic in November this year.
