President of JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” Kanat Alpysbayev made a working trip to Mangystau region, where he got acquainted with the progress of construction of a ferry complex in Kuryk port.
The project is implemented within the framework of the State Program for Infrastructure Development “Nurly Zhol” in Mangystau region and is strategically important for increasing the transit potential of Kazakhstan through the ports of the Caspian Sea.
The planned capacity of the complex includes processing up to 4 million tons of cargo per year: oil products, grain, chemicals and fertilizers.
The construction of the ferry complex in Kuryk port began in April 2015. In June 2015, a labor movement was opened to deliver construction cargo along the Borzhakty-Ersai railway line.
To date, excavation work has been completed on the territory of the exhibition tracks; 4.4 million m3 of soil has been removed to the dump. Ballasting of the railway track by rubble is completed for 67%.
“Construction of the access road will speed up the delivery of the stone for piling up the Western and Eastern protective mole, which will protect the water area from sea waves. At the same time, dredging is being carried out with the participation of the Belgian company Jan De Nul,” noted Aliy Karabalin, deputy director of the railways directorate of JSC “NC “KTZh”.
The coastal structures of the ferry complex include a pier for two berths with a length of 170 m, a lifting bridge and a berth of the port fleet of 60 m.
“Loading of ferries will be carried out by supplying wagons from the sorting station through the lifting and transition bridge. Thanks to the method used to control the height of the wagon exit, this mechanism can be adjusted to the draft of the vessel,” noted Igor Tomas, Production Director of SACG Company.
He also stressed the completion stage of construction of administrative and production facilities, in which the administration and dispatching service of the port will be located, as well as state bodies.
In addition, construction of an external power supply line VL 10 kV is underway to provide power to the port facilities, along the line there are 465 supports and 73 km of wires suspended.
Completion of the construction of the facilities of the first start complex will ensure technical and technological readiness for the reception and dispatch of goods through Kuryk port.
The construction of the facilities of the second start complex is planned for 2017.
